WOSA WORLD
Wines of South Africa UK – Young Blood press tasting
3 April 2013
On 5th January, Oz Clark tweeted: “Thought for 2013. Does South Africa have more exciting winemakers late 20s to early 30s than any other nation? Discuss. Well, OK, argue”. This, we though, would make a great theme for our next press tasting.
On 27th March 2013 WOSA UK presented 130 wines to the UK media and wine educators, all made by South Africa’s younger generation of winemakers, aged 35 or under. The aim was to showcase the new wave of talent on the SA wine scene.
The tasting was very well attended with 31 visitors on the day, including:
Victoria Moore, The Telegraph
Anthony Rose, The Independent
Fiona Beckett, The Guardian
Julia Harding, jancisrobinson.com
Matthew Jukes, Daily Mail
Stephen Spurrier, Decanter
Peter Richards, Saturday Kitchen
Nina Caplan, The Spectator
Clinton Cawood, Imbibe
A number of high profile freelance writers also attended, alongside wine educators, several wine bloggers, independent wine merchants and organisers of consumer wine events.
